Yatsenyuk called for “putting pressure on Russia” and sending UN peacekeepers to Donbass
The law on the reintegration of Donbass, adopted today by the Verkhovna Rada, will make it possible to make a decision of the UN Security Council on the deployment of peacekeepers to the region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This opinion was expressed by the leader of the Popular Front party and ex-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, the politician’s press service reports.
“The adoption of the de-occupation law will enable the UN Security Council to make a decision on the deployment of peacekeepers, providing the Ukrainian state with the opportunity to restore its territorial integrity, the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory and the restoration of the Ukrainian-Russian border, when Ukrainian troops and border guards will control our territory,” - Yatsenyuk assures.
Yatsenyuk also credited his party and its faction in the Rada for both the adoption of the law on reintegration and the recognition of the Russian Federation as an “aggressor” in the text of the law.
“The Ukrainian people today saw that the parliament is capable of uniting when it comes to protecting the national interests of the Ukrainian state. The international community saw that, by the will of the Ukrainian parliament, Russia was recognized as an aggressor and occupier. And therefore, the continuation of the sanctions regime against Russia and forcing Russia to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine is again returning to the world agenda,” he emphasized.
In addition, Yatsenyuk emphasized that the current parliamentary decision will enable the UN Security Council to make a decision on the deployment of peacekeepers “on conditions that are beneficial for Ukraine”: “There should be no Russian peacekeepers there. There should be no peacekeepers affiliated with Russian troops. There must be a very clear mandate, which stipulates that peacekeepers ensure order on Ukrainian territory, and most importantly, ensure the withdrawal of Russian mercenaries, occupiers and Russian armed forces from the territory of Ukraine.”
“It is clear that Russia will block such a resolution. But today’s vote demonstrated to our Western partners the clear position of the entire united Ukrainian government. Russia is the aggressor. We will not give up our territories. We will not succumb to Russian blackmail. And the civilized world must take its step. Put pressure on Russia to adopt a UN Security Council resolution on the introduction of peacekeepers and the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine,” Yatsenyuk concluded.
