Yatsenyuk behaves like a hysteric during gas negotiations - either he doesn’t need gas, or he does (VIDEO)
Kyiv, October 30 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk demonstrates an amazingly inconsistent position in negotiations with Russia regarding gas.
Director of the Institute of Energy Research Dmitry Marunich stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“You remember this rhetoric - “we will not agree in any way, we do not need Russian gas.” October comes, and we go to negotiate, because we need Russian gas. How else can this be explained? I don’t know, maybe Merkel put pressure,” the expert noted.
However, he believes that Yatsenyuk’s position could also be influenced by negative weather forecasts for the winter.
“I have very serious suspicions that it was he who derailed the gas negotiations in June - for political reasons and due to the fact that Ukraine did not have money even then. He simply understood that there would not be enough money, and therefore there were two options - either we would somehow get through this winter, or not. Perhaps Yatsenyuk has weather forecasts for the winter, which say that the temperature will be lower. There are similar forecasts for the European part of Russia - winter will be colder than last. Not because Putin wants to do something bad – these are forces of nature,” Marunich noted.
He also drew attention to the fact that the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Alexander Shlapak withdrew from the gas negotiations.
“Shlapak did not take part in any negotiations on gas. As I understand it, Mr. Shlapak wants to jump off this derailing train. He has already stated that he does not see himself in the next Cabinet. What can we talk about if the IMF is not giving money to pay for gas this year? These are serious risks in implementing the budget within the parameters that were agreed upon. And Mr. Shlapak does not want to play this game any further,” the expert reflects.
