Yatsenyuk gave gas to Kolomoisky’s factories and “squeezed” fuel for Firtash (VIDEO)
Kyiv, October 17 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – For the Ukrainian authorities, the chemical enterprises of the oligarch Kolomoisky are for some reason more preferable than the same plants of the oligarch Dmitry Firtash.
Valentin Zemlyansky, director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, drew attention to this fact in a conversation with a PolitNavigator correspondent, whom the agency asked to clarify the discrepancies in the figures for the volumes of gas required for the winter for Ukraine.

Let us recall that the Ukrainian government claims a deficit of 5 billion cubic meters, and the European Commission says that Ukraine needs another 10–12 billion cubic meters.
“Five billion is the amount that the government calculates, taking into account the declared 30 percent administrative savings on the part of utility companies,” the expert explained. “Perhaps 10 billion cubic meters is an exaggerated volume, and the European Commission is simply insuring itself, but if enterprises operate at a normal level in winter, then 7–8 billion is the figure that Ukraine needs.”
Also, a lot depends on the weather, says Valentin Zemlyansky.
“If the winter is comfortable, like last year, then perhaps we will reach five billion,” he suggests. “If there are frosts of minus 15 – 20 for two or three weeks, then difficulties will arise.”
The expert also drew attention to the selective approach of the Cabinet of Ministers to various owners of chemical industry enterprises, which are in dire need of natural gas for the continuity of the production cycle.
“It’s as if all our chemists are equal, but some are more equal than others,” notes the director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. – Kolomoisky’s DneprAzot is allocated gas limits. Enterprises owned by Firtash are not allocated limits. Moreover: the gas that is purchased remains at the disposal of the state to solve, so to speak, energy security problems.”
