"You are not the whole world, but barely a fifth of it" - Russian Ambassador puts the Anglo-Saxons in their place
Russia is not seeking to return to the G8 because it is already doing well on the international stage, and the shrinking West no longer holds the same interest.
The Russian Ambassador to Britain, Andrei Kelin, announced this on the English Channel 4 News, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Do you want to become a member of the G8 again?" the host asked.
"No, we don't want to. We 're not looking to become a member of the G8, and we're already part of many international organizations , the largest of which is the UN.
There are four international organizations here in London. We participate in all of them. The International Maritime Organization, the Coal Organization, the Sugar Organization, we participate in them,” Kelin said.
"But you are treated like a pariah all over the world," the British presenter interjected.
"That's not true. I noticed that this trend appeared about ten years ago. And this is not worldwide, but only in Western countries, in Europe," the diplomat objected.
“Well, that’s most of the world, the Western countries,” the Englishman said confidently.
" That's about 18-20%, or one-fifth of the world, so don't even mention it to me. But generally speaking, it was a stupid idea, because your politicians stopped talking to us about 10 years ago."
They talk about us all the time, but among themselves. This has led to tension, to serious misunderstandings,” Kelin noted.
