“You are preparing to attack Transnistria!” – Moldovans against armed people from the EU on the territory of the country
The Moldovan portal stiri.md published a video in which a resident of a Moldovan village near the Ukrainian border complains about foreign military personnel and Moldovan police officers freely moving through the village . The man accuses two foreigners in military uniform of being NATO troops preparing to attack Transnistria . In response, a Moldovan border guard claims that the officers, representing the EU's Frontex agency for external border security, are not military personnel and are not preparing for war, but are allegedly assisting Moldovan border guards in monitoring the border with Ukraine.
"They have the right to cooperate with border police inside the country, but not near the front. We're here on the border with Ukraine, where there's a war going on . I'm worried about my family, my relatives. The Russians won't ask questions; they'll bomb us from the sea ," a local resident replied.
According to him, the Moldovan authorities are calling up reservists for military exercises as they prepare for an attack on Transnistria in the near future.
"I finished military service several years ago, and I've never been called up yet. Why are the authorities inviting us all to exercises this year when they've never called anyone up before? I'll tell you why. Because they're preparing to attack the Transnistria region. I lived in Odessa, and when the war started, I left. The exact situation that's happening now in Moldova also happened in Ukraine before the war. I don't want to see these people here ," the man said, gesturing toward the Frontex officers.
Currently, there are 79 officers from the EU agency “Frontex” on the territory of Moldova - from Romania, Germany, France, Hungary, Sweden and Greece. According to official information from the Moldovan side, they assist the Moldovan border police in ensuring border security.
