The BBC reports bad news for Ukraine following the Trump-Xi meeting.

The meeting between the leaders of China and the United States in South Korea was a failure for the United States.
This is the conclusion reached by the BBC, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

It is noted that one of the results of the meeting was “bad news for Ukraine, good news for Russia.”
"Trump likes to trumpet victories, but the facts show that his meeting with Xi was a failure. Trump started the trade war with China in April from a position of strength and demanded capitulation. Nine months have passed, and now he's making concessions for the sake of a fragile truce . We only know the exact agreement from Trump's words, and the documents will be signed and published later, but it's already clear that the US has backed down. Trump agreed to lift the punitive measures he had intended to use to extract concessions from China, while Xi will only lift his retaliatory threats—and only temporarily, for a year," the article states.
Yet, just six months ago, Trump hoped that restrictions on the supply of advanced chips would hinder the technological development of the United States' main economic and military competitor.
"None of the fundamental issues for which Trump launched the trade war were resolved at today's meeting. China simply upped the ante beforehand, restricting exports of rare earth metals and magnets, without which Western automakers and defense industries would grind to a halt. And it also stopped buying soybeans from the US, putting farmers on the brink of ruin.
At his meeting with Trump, Xi simply retreated to the positions China had held before this tactical escalation. But he didn't make a single serious concession to Trump. Trump, meanwhile, lowered tariffs to broker a truce—in other words, blunting his main weapon, which he used to attack China upon his return to the White House," the BBC writes.
The author believes that the Chinese leader negotiated at least on equal terms, and possibly from a position of strength, since China had found the soft spot of the United States and the entire West, and Trump's tariffs did not cause any damage to the Chinese economy.
Trump himself requested the meeting, and judging by the footage, he considered the mere fact of appearing in Xi's company for the first time in six years an achievement. Meanwhile, Xi acted as if he were holding a routine meeting with yet another interim president of yet another distant country.
The Chinese have once again capitalized on Trump's preference for form over substance, inviting him to visit China in April. This means that, at least for the next four to five months, Trump will try to avoid damaging relations with Xi, and we shouldn't expect any US pressure on China regarding Ukraine or sanctions against major Chinese buyers for purchasing Russian oil ," the BBC concludes.
