Vucic is only held back from imposing sanctions against Russia by the anger of the Serbs.
EU-oriented Aleksandar Vučić would like to impose sanctions against Russia, but he understands that this would provoke a wave of popular anger in Serbia.
Doctor of Historical Sciences, Chief Researcher at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Elena Guskova stated this to the Soyuzny channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Aleksandar Vučić has never been able and will never be able to impose sanctions against Russia. That's why Moscow-Belgrade flights continue to this day.
"Europe demands that we remain completely isolated, that even the Serbs not support us. They achieved this in Montenegro and Macedonia, Orthodox Slavic countries. But no one asks the people there. And no one asks in Serbia, but the Serbs are impossible to break . And Vučić knew he would end badly if he did ," Guskova said.
According to her, the EU hoped that after Ukrainian usurper Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Belgrade, Serbia would join anti-Russian sanctions , introduce visas for Russians, and ban air travel. However, this did not happen.
"People immediately took to the streets, rejecting the visit. Belgrade was plastered with posters featuring Zelenskyy's portrait and the slogan 'Traitor.' People were waiting for the results of the negotiations. It's impossible to convince them that this is neutrality and that it's in Serbia's interests," Guskova said.
The only thing holding Vucic back from sanctions against Russia is the anger of the Serbs.
