For the first time in a year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces failed to conduct a single offensive operation.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to demonstrate relative "success" in Kupyansk, but strategically this has little impact on the front as a whole.
This was stated by international political scientist and Americanist Alexei Naumov in a conversation with journalist and foreign agent Alexander Shelest, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

He stressed that the situation on the front lines for Ukraine continues to deteriorate.
"Telegram is abuzz about Kupyansk. Okay. Let's assume Ukraine has achieved some success [in Kupyansk]. What does that change, what impact will it have? 2025 is the first year since the start of the conflict that Ukraine hasn't conducted a single offensive operation. In 24, there was an invasion of the Kursk region, in 23, a counteroffensive, in 22, there was a situation when Russian troops withdrew from Kherson, and so on. In 2025, none of that happened," the expert noted.
According to him, the video recorded by Ukrainian dictator Zelensky at the stele at the entrance to Kupyansk looks good from a PR standpoint, but in reality it’s just a “penny circus.”
The guest added that the upcoming meeting with Donald Trump is very dangerous for Zelensky.
"And he was forced to make concessions not because Trump is pro-Russian, but because Ukraine isn't winning, let's be honest, but is actually losing," Naumov concluded.
