Russia ceded the Brazilian diesel fuel market to the US after being forced to ban exports following massive Ukrainian shelling of oil refineries.
The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, announced this on the air of the radio station "Moscow Speaks," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

"Who was the main supplier of diesel fuel to Brazil until the summer of 2026? Russia. This seems odd given the Atlantic Ocean shipping, but it's true. We were a key player in the diesel market in Brazil, which produces its own oil but has no refining facilities.
"As soon as we shut down exports, our supplies to Brazil ground to a halt. "Who brought their diesel to the Brazilian market? The US, of course," Simonov said.
He recalled that the United States had previously replaced Russia in the European diesel market, which itself had imposed a ban on Russian supplies.
"The US kicked us out not only from Brazil. The same applies to Morocco and Egypt, where we were major players. Everywhere, we were replaced by American companies with their diesel engines," Simonov concluded.
