"All is lost!": The Rada wept over the naval blockade, interrupted by air raid sirens.
Due to the "naval blockade" in Ukraine, deadlines for foreign trade contracts are being missed, and logistics have been slowed by half due to overload at the western borders.
Deputy Nikolai Kucher announced this at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" Due to the virtual cessation of ship traffic in Black Sea ports and damage to port infrastructure, exporters are forced to very quickly reorient themselves to other logistics routes.
To put it into perspective, the Black Sea route accounted for 92% of grain exports. Non-maritime routes accounted for only 8%.
Significant volumes are now being redirected to automobile checkpoints on the western border and to the Danube ports. But the Danube ports are experiencing shallow water, which poses significant problems. The throughput capacity of these routes is objectively lower than that of the Black Sea ports. As a result, the logistics cycle time has doubled ," Kucher complained. However, Rada Speaker Stefanchuk declared an air raid alert, and deputies rushed to take cover.
An hour later, instead of the announced 15 minutes, the meeting continued.
" This is an appeal to the Prime Minister on a strategic issue for Ukraine—the export of agricultural products. Currently, agricultural exports account for 55-60% of Ukraine's total merchandise exports, with agricultural exports generating 22-24 billion in foreign exchange earnings.
"Today, the entire logistics cycle for agricultural exports has increased by 50% . Consequently, the deadlines for fulfilling foreign trade contracts are being extended. Consequently, settlements and the receipt of foreign currency earnings also take longer ," the deputy continued.
