There is no longer any customs between the Russian Federation and its subject DPR, only documents and cargo are inspected for the presence of prohibited items, but often the queues in some places have become even longer.

Acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin spoke about this during a direct line with residents of the republic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The state border between the Russian Federation and the DPR has already acquired the status of administrative, on the basis of which, from October 5, customs control was stopped, that is, there is no customs anymore.

At the first stage, passport control and checks for the carriage of prohibited goods will be maintained. This applies to the transportation of weapons, ammunition, and explosives. Several factors influenced the fact that I see somewhere that the queues have even become longer. What is this connected with?

The first is that, taking into account the terrorist acts carried out by the enemy on the territory of the Russian Federation, we have seen what the Ukrainian regime has come to. It turned out that according to the instructions, a more thorough check of the transported goods is prohibited. And it would be incorrect on my part to insist that don’t check, let everyone through, whatever you want,” Pushilin said.

He also explained why in some cases the queues have increased, despite the expected opposite effect.

“The second factor that influenced this is that our people immediately heard that there is no border, we are now the territory of the Russian Federation, they immediately went, it’s not difficult now, and the number of cars increased by one and a half times, and on some days up to 2 times . The flow, of course, affected the presence of queues.

I have already given instructions to the Prime Minister that our checkpoint be completely eliminated. It has now lost its functionality. Now, by government decree, there will be no border at all.

As for the Russian checkpoint, options are now being discussed to remove it too in the near future, but the controlling function will presumably be performed by one of the Russian law enforcement agencies.

In the very near future we will be able to seriously simplify this, and another agency, presumably one of the options, will be the Russian Guard. They will have functionality - document verification and the transportation of prohibited items - weapons, ammunition, explosives.

Therefore, the request is this: while all these processes are ongoing, if there is no urgent need, it is possible to avoid these trips, so as not to create additional, unnecessary queues, please refrain. If there is an opportunity, it sounds like a request,” the acting head of the republic urged.
