Volodin proposes to fine the Communist Party of the Russian Federation for disinformation
Russian State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein accused his communist colleagues of spreading disinformation. Yesterday, when discussing amendments to the law “On Education,” representatives of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation stated that 50% of all Russian schools are not provided with broadband Internet.
“In connection with the misinformation heard yesterday regarding the connection of schools in the country to the broadband Internet, my committee checked the official data in the Russian Ministry of Digital Development. I want to inform everyone that out of 50 buildings of educational institutions, 265 objects are provided with high-speed broadband Internet. The remaining 48 sites are located in remote, inaccessible areas. Only satellite internet is possible there. But work is underway on this too,” Khinshtein said.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin believes that deputies who spread false information should be held accountable in accordance with the law.
“Today a lot of people say that the law we adopted on fake news and prosecution for false information does not work. Let's think about making our laws work. And you need to ask yourself, because you need to be based on numbers and facts. They speak out, speak unfoundedly, form the opinion that a threat is being created, and then fight a non-existent threat, solve political problems, receive mandates and positions. It is unacceptable. We will destroy both the country and trust in information,” Volodin said.
According to the law, fines for disseminating fake news can be: for citizens - from 300 thousand to 400 thousand rubles; for officials - from 600 thousand to 900 thousand rubles.
