Volodin: Communists greeted foreign agent with bread and salt
YouTube paid bloggers with millions of followers to criticize Russia.
State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin announced this at a parliamentary meeting, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I'll give you a specific example of how unfriendly countries act toward Russia. We had YouTube subscribers with a million or more. If the person running this channel expressed critical views and undermined the foundations of our state, YouTube would start paying them an extra $20 a week in advertising. In reality, it wasn't advertising that they were funding; it was covertly funding someone who criticized our country, destroyed it, and did everything to weaken our sovereignty . This is one of the loopholes. Now YouTube has been banned. There are fewer of them, but they still fund them," Volodin said.
He rebuked the communists, some of whom supported the late extremist blogger Alexei Navalny, who was financed in this way.
"Here is Parfenov smiling. He knows who I am talking about. Those who met Navalny at the airport with bread and salt. Think about it, fellow fans. Say thank you 10 times that we are kind. You should have stood on your knees and repented, like in Ukraine. Those who went to meet him, who applauded, what, did not understand that he was an agent of another state and was doing everything to destroy the country," the State Duma speaker said.
