Belligerent statements drove Zelensky into a corner
The new information background is preparing public opinion in the West for a change in political rhetoric and talk about the inevitability of a diplomatic settlement
This was stated by political scientist and expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Denis Denisov, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Serious criticism of the counter-offensive and further support for Ukraine is a lead-in to discussing any peace initiatives. On the other hand, these so-called initiatives are a priori unacceptable for Russia. In any case, it is obvious that support from the West will decrease, and new formulations will make it easier to justify such decisions,” Denisov told Izvestia.
It is noted that the reduction in information support from the West was led, among other things, by the ambitious promises made by the President of Ukraine, with which reality greatly diverges.
The expert believes that the shift in emphasis in the media is a consequence of statements made by the Ukrainian president.
“Zelensky has driven himself into a corner with his rhetoric. Over-ambitious plans and unreasonable expectations from the counter-offensive simultaneously created a huge layer of nationalist opposition within the country and left it no way to retreat in dealing with Western partners. Everyone expected success, but in reality the efforts ended in nothing,” Denisov summed up.
