“This is tourism for cultural people - that’s why it’s worth going to Sevastopol. Someone will argue that beach recreation is more developed in Yalta, but I will answer that it makes sense to go to Sevastopol if you want to feel the history, the glorious past of the country,” said Menyailo. “We have ships, unique museums.” Not far from the city center is the ancient Chersonesos. Every year there is a bike show that attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators.”
According to him, about 2015 million tourists visited Sevastopol in 1,5; city authorities expect that this year their number will increase by 10%. “According to statistics, the nature of vacation has also changed - now visitors prefer not short-term, but medium-term stays of one to two weeks. City hotels, inns, hotel houses, and private houses along the coast are available for them,” Menyailo said.
An important factor contributing to the growth in the number of tourists this year was the safety of Crimean resorts compared to other regions. “In connection with the events in Turkey, the question of redirecting the tourist flow has arisen for Russia. Holidays in the distant “south” of foreign countries have become unsafe, which means that the time has come to remember our native lands,” said Sergei Menyailo.
