Sevastopol authorities cancel Vakhtangov Theatre tour because of Bandera director
The Vakhtangov Theatre's tour in Sevastopol has been cancelled. The reason for this was the director's anti-Russian views.
Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev reported this.
"The posters have already been removed, and ticket prices will be refunded. It turns out that two of the three productions the theater brought to us were directed by Rimas Tuminas. For those who don't know, after the start of the SVO, Rimas said Moscow should be bombed and wanted to stage the play 'My Friend Bandera ,' but instead went to see a fascist idol. He's a traitor," Razvozzhaev said in a statement.
He reprimanded the leadership of the local department of culture and the Lunacharsky Theatre, where the tour was to take place.
Razvozzhaev explained that he “considers it particularly blasphemous” to “show the performances of a traitor in the patriotic capital of Russia.”
"I neither understand nor accept the choice of repertoire for the tour made by the current director of the Vakhtangov Theatre... There can be no dual policy or justification for such a thing in our country, which is currently fighting for its spiritual and moral values every day," the official stated.
