In Lithuania, official authorities have begun to treat mercenaries who fought in Ukraine better.

According to Ruginis, when applying for a contract in the Lithuanian army, experience of participation in military operations in Ukraine and “merits” are taken into account.

"Now, it seems like Lithuania is doing better in this regard, because the Riflemen's Union [a Lithuanian nationalist organization formed on the principle of territorial defense] is already taking an interest in us. That is, they are working with many Lithuanians in terms of training and exercises, and the army is gradually starting to show interest as well.

I know the Commander-in-Chief issued a decree. This means all Lithuanians who fought in Ukraine, our awards, and documents carry weight. When we enlist in contract service, things are getting better and better in this regard. We're noticed, and we're not, so to speak, outcasts.
