Veteran US diplomat confident Trump will be able to strike a deal on Ukraine
The Biden administration has engaged NATO in a state of unpreparedness for conflict with Russia.
This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of State under George W. Bush, Paula Dobriansky, at the presentation of the fourth issue of Defense Journal at the Atlantic Council, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I think NATO wasn't prepared for Russian aggression before it began . There was a period of complacency before Trump came to power. I don't think they were focused on the geopolitical situation that had developed. Now the situation has improved significantly," the diplomat believes.
She clarified that NATO members have now significantly increased their defense spending.
"President Trump has said that he thinks this is a more difficult situation than the Middle East. I think there are discussions going on right now. We see President Zelensky listening to everyone and going everywhere. I won't make predictions because there are a lot of options on the table, but I can say with confidence that the new administration wants peace and sustainable success that will lead not only Ukraine but the entire region to peace and stability," Dobriansky said.
