The head of the Mejlis, Refat Chubarov, said that the holiday in Kyiv made it possible to turn one of the capital’s parks into the “Crimean peninsula” for a day. At the same time, Chubarov criticized the festivities held in Bakhchisarai under the auspices of the Russian authorities.
“One of the local Crimean newspapers wrote the following: “Finally, this national holiday has become international.” This title contains the revelations of that government - they wanted to destroy one of the traditions of the Crimean Tatars, when we, celebrating Hydyrlez, invited all our neighbors and demonstrated our traditions and art. The authorities organized a glamorous picture with kokoshniks, loaves and lyapata. They taught a lesson about what Crimea would be like under Russian rule. At the same time, the majority of Crimean Tatars saw all this and simply did not come there,” Chubarov said in an interview with Channel 5.
Let us remind you that this year not only Crimean Tatars, but also other nationalities took part in Hydyrlez in Crimea. In total, the event was attended by about 30 thousand people, despite calls from the Majlis for a boycott.
