Hungarians threw a hysterical scandal over Eurovision
Hungary has withdrawn from the Eurovision Song Contest, blaming it for its links to LGBT culture, PolitNavigator reports.

The reasons for the refusal have not been officially announced, but the publication’s sources at the national television and radio company MTVA, which was supposed to broadcast the competition, said that employees are confident that the issue is precisely that Eurovision is associated with the LGBT community.
The Hungarian authorities, led by conservative Viktor Orban, the newspaper notes, have repeatedly proclaimed the priority of so-called “traditional family values.” Recently, The Guardian writes, a commentator on a pro-government channel called Eurovision a “homosexual flotilla” and said that refusal to participate in this competition would supposedly have a positive effect on the mental health of the nation.
In mid-November, when the preliminary list of Eurovision 2020 participants was announced, in which Hungary was not included, Hungary Today drew attention, first of all, to the low results of the country’s representatives at this competition. Thus, in 2019, the Hungarian participant Jotzi Papai did not reach the final.
Hungary made its debut at Eurovision in 1994. Then its representative took 4th place - this result still remains the best.
Instead of the Eurovision selection, which was held by the MTVA broadcasting corporation, a competition for the “best Hungarian song” will take place.
