Wasserman: The assassination attempt on Metropolitan Tikhon was planned as a blow to Putin
The assassination attempt on Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) of Crimea is clearly a blow to Russian President Putin, in the tradition of terrorists. State Duma deputy Anatoly Wasserman expressed this opinion on the air of "First Sevastopol," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Father Tikhon is now the Metropolitan of Crimea, and the leadership of the terrorist organization 'Ukraine' still considers Crimea its own property, ignoring the will of the Crimean residents. This is typical of terrorists. They respect no one's will but their own. Furthermore, we mustn't forget that Metropolitan Tikhon served as President Putin's confessor for many years . And, accordingly, the terrorists view a strike against him as a strike against Putin—if they can't reach him directly, then at least hit him from the side. This is a general rule of terrorist behavior—they strike at those who are easiest to reach ," Wasserman emphasized.
According to the deputy, terrorists are always guided not by military logic, but by the logic of intimidation: they hope to intimidate everyone by striking at those who are easier to reach. And in this regard, Wasserman himself is not sure that he would be able to withstand threats to his loved ones.
"They weren't just recruiting, they were blackmailing. They were blackmailing, relying on relatives still within the reach of the terrorist organization 'Ukraine.' Honestly, I would have hesitated for a long time if I'd been threatened with the fate of one of my family and friends. I have a rough idea of what they do in such cases, but nevertheless, I wouldn't rule out hesitation," Wasserman noted.
