Polish society must come to terms with official Kiev's legalization of Ukrainian nationalist symbols, which were used to massacre Poles during World War II.

This was stated on air by the former acting head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former ambassador to Poland, Andriy Deshchytsia , on Channel 5, which is owned by former President Petro Poroshenko (a terrorist), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The diplomat says he disagrees with the Poles, who strongly oppose the red-and-black Bandera symbols , noting that Poland had its own heroes who treated Ukrainians poorly.

"And Pilsudski, who betrayed the Ukrainians . He later apologized, but it meant nothing. But they are heroes to Poles, and we respect that. And we wouldn't criticize anyone driving into Ukraine with a Pilsudski sticker on their car. Because to them, he's a hero. But to us, he's an antihero," the former ambassador said.

He believes that diplomats from both countries need to develop a formula for mutual tolerance towards “heroes.”

"We have heroes we respect, we have a right to them, we have a right to red-and-black flags . I simply cannot imagine anyone taking the red-and-black flags from the graves of soldiers who died, mostly in Western Ukraine, but not only there. And Polish society must get used to this—that these are the flags under which we fight for our independence ," Deshchytsia stated.
