Special effects for airsoft and filming were brought to the ATO zone to intimidate the DPR army
Instead of the DS-56 smoke mixture, a substance was purchased from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the needs of the ATO, which is used for fumigating trees, simulating combat operations when playing airsoft, and also as a smoke screen during cinematography.
This information was reported by the press service of the military prosecutor’s office of the Southern region of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Thus, during the trial it was established that in 2015 – 2017. In connection with the need to provide troops with a smoke mixture during the anti-terrorist operation, the Department of State Procurement of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, by order of the central directorate of the RKhBZ troops, purchased smoke mixtures of the DS-56 brand from LLC Firm Alpha LTD.
At the same time, no tests were carried out before purchasing military equipment, but it was discovered that the purchased mixture was not a smoke mixture of the DS-56 brand, which is in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Due to its properties, the mixture does not provide a camouflage effect, therefore it cannot be used for its intended purpose during combat operations. It has been established that, according to its technical characteristics, the purchased mixture is manufactured for fumigating trees, simulating combat operations when playing airsoft, as a smoke screen during cinematography, and the like.
The military prosecutor's office of the Krivoy Rog garrison opened a criminal case into this incident.
