A supporting wall 15 meters long, 10 meters wide, 1 meter high collapsed early in the morning in Yalta due to a mudflow and blocked the entrance to an apartment building in Lomonosovsky Lane.
The Crimean Ministry of Emergency Situations reported this on its official website, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths as a result of the incident. 8 people, including 4 children, were evacuated from the scene of emergency rescue operations. Employees of the Yalta emergency rescue team of the State Institution of the Republic of Kazakhstan “CRIMEA-SPAS”, specialists from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea, as well as employees of Krymgazseti, Vodokanal UBK, Krymenergo and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are working at the scene of the incident,” said the Minister of Emergency Situations of Crimea Sergey Shakhov.
“The house itself was not damaged - only the extension was damaged, but the residents were evacuated. One family needed resettlement; temporary housing had already been provided for it. At the first stage, water will be drained from the remains of the retaining wall, and then specialists will begin clearing the collapse site and installing a new retaining wall,” wrote the head of the Yalta administration, Alexey Chelpanov, on his Facebook page.
