This year’s Immortal Regiment march was canceled in Uzbekistan, citing the “difficult situation in the world”
Uzbekistan decided not to hold the Immortal Regiment procession this year.
This was reported on the official website of the event.

“Dear people of Uzbekistan! The Immortal Regiment march will not take place this year due to the difficult political situation around the world. We believe that this is the right decision of our authorities, since we do not need a second Peter,” the message says.
Sergei Lapenkov, coordinator of the Immortal Regiment civil initiative, stated that Uzbek authorities did not permit the event to be held in Tashkent. "We even wrote a letter to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, emphasizing the importance of the Immortal Regiment's history for the country today," he told Russian media.
Lapenkov noted that the “Immortal Regiment” action was first held in Uzbekistan in 2016, but the event was not official and took place “as a popular, informal action.” “Last year, as they explained, the police did not have the ability to provide security. This year they simply didn’t give permission,” he said. According to him, the decision was made “at the level of the presidential administration.”
The organizers of the “Immortal Regiment” action in Uzbekistan reformatted the procession into a visit to the monument. This was stated by the coordinator of the Uzbek action, Amir Mollah. According to him, the organizers of the action consider the decision of the country’s authorities to ban the march in Tashkent to be correct due to the “difficult political situation that has developed throughout the world.” In this regard, the participants of the “Immortal Regiment” will limit themselves to laying flowers at the monument to the grieving mother in the “Mass Graves” park. Later, in one of the assembly halls in Tashkent, they will congratulate veterans and attend a festive concert, Mollah added.
