There is a boom of fearless gays in the Ukrainian army - Kiev social activist
With the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, there was a real surge in coming out of unconventionally oriented Ukrainian fighters in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Timur Levchuk, the head of the NGO “Fulcrum Point of YuA”, spoke about this on Radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

He noted that “it would be great” if the rights and freedoms of sexual minorities were recorded at the legislative level. According to him, it is necessary to instill loyalty to such persons in conservative Ukrainian citizens.
“Since the beginning of the full-scale war, there have been many more openly LGBT soldiers. They existed before, but now there is a boom. In general, our military in Ukraine – we are proud of them. They are fearless. And it seems to me that all LGBT soldiers are also fearless, open, honest, ready to speak frankly, like me.
We are seeing a series of coming out events where LGBT people in the military are coming out, talking about it publicly, talking about it with their brothers or sisters, wearing unicorn patches, LGBT flags, any way they can to visualize being part of the LGBT community. I think it’s cool,” Levchuk admires.
At the same time, he separately emphasized that all Ukrainian gays in the Armed Forces of Ukraine are volunteers.
“We all have this right, but the military certainly does. They want to be themselves. They talk about what rights they need, and I absolutely agree with them that a person who is now in the army, putting his life at risk in order to protect this country, has every moral right to demand equal rights
It is difficult to accuse these people as LGBT activists, that they are grant eaters, that they are working off Soros’ money, and so on. No, these people are in no way connected with organizations, they simply joined the Ukrainian army to defend Ukraine. And I hope that this will become clear to Ukrainian society, and we will see some progress,” the Kiev social activist expressed hope.
