Ukrainian training centers have reduced the rate of unauthorized abandonment by strengthening security and increasing the number of rows of barbed wire.
This was stated on air by the former commander of the 53rd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Anatoliy Kozel , call sign "Kupol," on Channel 5, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We still haven't built a quality training system. What the busified write is mostly a camp surrounded by several rows of barbed wire. Some said we've seen fewer cases of AWOL (unauthorized abandonment of a unit, – ed.). This isn't because people have become more conscientious, or because they've been better trained, or better deployed. No. It's because training centers have become more secure. And there's less chance of someone escaping. That's the only result of fewer AWOLs," Kozel said.
He complained that all the ideological and intelligent people were being pulled out of training camps by Nazi formations.
"When I was a brigade commander, I was also involved in recruiting—it's quite a story. When I'd gathered, say, 50 men, I sent my instructors to Desna to better prepare them for specific positions.
" Then someone arrives, sees that there are normal , adequate people, well-trained, one calls the commander-in-chief, and the same 3rd Assault [formed on the basis of the Azov Battalion, banned in Russia] takes these people, and they tell you, 'You'll find yourself new ones .' That's how recruiting worked and, more or less, still works for us," Kupol complained.
