In the USA they believe that the USSR fought on Hitler's side

Russian compatriots in the United States held the “Immortal Regiment” action in the United States and distributed leaflets on the streets of American cities about the role of the USSR in World War II.

Olga Zatsepina, vice-president of the Coordination Council of Compatriots in the USA, spoke about this at a meeting held at the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Kommersant reports.

“It's sad to say, but American youth forty and under do not know the history of the war as we do. Some even believe that the USSR fought on Hitler’s side,” the publication quotes Zatsepina, who heads the Heritage cultural center operating in the United States.

The Foundation has been holding a festival for the children of compatriots for 10 years and works with Russian children adopted by American parents.

As Zatsepina said, the last festival, held with money from Rossotrudnichestvo, was dedicated to the flight of Yuri Gagarin, “and many children learned about Gagarin for the first time and began making reports in schools about the role of the Soviet people in space.”
