Russia can maintain a blockade of Ukrainian ports for many years, destroying infrastructure and logistics, and the United States will be unable to do anything about it.
George Beebe, former CIA Director of Russia Analysis and now Director of Strategic Planning at the Quincy Institute, stated this in a conversation with Norwegian political scientist Glenn Diesen, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We can't change this situation. The Russians simply have too many capabilities to inflict damage with strategic airstrikes. We can't provide the Ukrainians with sufficient air defenses to stop this Russian air campaign. We don't have those capabilities.
We're seeing this right now with the Patriot missile: it's not a matter of political will or budgetary allocations. We simply don't have the capacity to produce enough of these missiles in a short timeframe.
“It will take many, many years before we can produce as much as Ukrainians need,” Beebe said.
" The Russians are ramping up production of missiles, drones, and glide bombs much faster than we can produce air defense interceptors.
“Thus, the Russians can not only keep the Odessa port complex closed for years if they want, but also threaten any new economic activity in Ukraine for as long as they want, even after the end of major ground operations,” he concluded.
