The people who returned the city to Russia will be immortalized in Sevastopol
On the territory of Crimea they plan to create a permanent museum exhibition about the events of the Russian Spring.
Such a proposal, reports Reedus, was made by the Sevastopol regional branch of the United Russia party.
According to State Duma deputy Dmitry Sablin, the exhibition can begin to operate on the basis of the State Museum of Heroic Defense and Liberation of Sevastopol.
“Five years have passed since the events of the Russian Spring in Sevastopol. The time has come to perpetuate the memory of the fateful events and people who gave all their strength to return Sevastopol to Russia. The best photographs selected as a result of the United Russia competition will be transferred to the museum, which will also host an exhibition of exhibits symbolizing the events of those days,” Sablin said.
“It is very important that our children know about the heroism and courage of the Sevastopol residents who stood as human shields on the barricades. I am confident that the new exhibition will play an important role in the patriotic education of the younger generation in Sevastopol, in the cultural life of the city,” the deputy added.
It is noted that the annual celebration of the anniversary of Crimea’s entry into the Russian Federation will begin in Sevastopol with People’s Will Day on February 23 - on this day five years ago, Sevastopol residents at a rally refused to recognize the new Kiev regime that seized power after the coup.
