Sevastopol, May 07 (Navigator, Egor Kagorov, Dmitry Osipenko) – In the center of Sevastopol, the inscription “Kyiv” on the alley of hero cities was replaced with “Slavyansk” using a homemade sticker. They immediately began bringing flowers to the obelisk and placing lit candles.

This happened during the dress rehearsal for the Victory Day parade.
It is assumed that the organizers of this political action were self-defense activists who were active in Sevastopol during the referendum.
Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol condemned the disappearance of “Kyiv”.
“Kyiv remains a hero city. Hundreds of thousands of people died there during the Great Patriotic War, and people also died during the latest sad events. No matter what government sits there now, no one has the right to belittle the feat of our great-grandfathers and grandfathers! “I don’t agree with the actions of the “anonymous”,” said the leader of the “A Just Russia” faction, Evgeny Dubovik.
The head of the Sevastopol branch of the Patriots of Russia party, Ivan Ermakov, takes a similar position.
“I don't think people did the right thing. Slavyansk played its role, and will play again. But who gave the right to erase the memory of generations? We cannot forget what happened in Kyiv during the Great Patriotic War. Moreover, all reasonable people do not give up hope that in Kyiv - the mother of Russian cities - there will also be peace and order over time,” Ermakov said.
However, acting Governor of Sevastopol Sergei Menyailo promptly ordered the elimination of the homemade inscription “Slavyansk”.
“The Alley of Hero Cities is not the place where you can express your political position, even if all Sevastopol residents share it,” the city leader commented on his decision.
