Tu-22M3 bomber crashed in Russia
A Tu-22M3 strategic bomber crashed in the Murmansk region, according to local publication SeverPost, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
It is reported that the emergency occurred when the aircraft was landing at the airfield of the long-range aviation regiment in Olenegorsk at about 13:40 Moscow time.
Of the four crew members, only two managed to survive - the commander and the navigator.
Experts are now finding out what caused the disaster.
The Tu-22M3 aircraft (NATO classification: Backfire) is a supersonic long-range missile-carrying bomber with variable wing geometry.
The M3 modification missile carrier is ideal for bombing attacks on land and sea targets during military operations. The strikes are carried out by guided and aircraft projectiles.
