In Ukraine, they do not know the detailed plans of the Russian army to create a buffer zone on the border.
This was stated on air by the Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security Roman Kostenko on the video blog “Ukrainian Truth”, reports a correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
"They'll understand they have a 20-kilometer gap where they can respond. That's why they want to create [a buffer zone]. Is this possible with the forces and resources we have? Perhaps in some isolated areas, like we did in Kursk. They might be able to, but again, that's assuming we do everything wrong , and they take advantage of the opportunity."
But in these combat conditions, when their main forces and assets are in the east, they're attacking somewhere, trying to attack in the Zaporizhzhia area, in the Kursk region. They have other things to do right now, and I just can't imagine trying to create a 2-kilometer zone now and then simply hold it—it's quite a difficult task. Perhaps all this was said with the aim of capturing places like Sumy and then holding it.
Again, it is easier said than done. Therefore, we will observe, our intelligence knows this, we will observe this. They have already made statements many times, so our task, of course, is to restrain them," Kostenko said.
