Ukrainian TV channels that allow themselves to criticize the Kyiv government should be subject to sanctions and included in the list of “agents of the aggressor country.”

The head of the Popular Front, Maxim Burbak, stated this during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The Popular Front faction insists on sanctions against media outlets that deny the fact of Russian aggression and broadcast Kremlin manuals. We demand speedy consideration of such bills. First of all, it is necessary to unblock the signing of the resolution on sanctions against enemy TV channels by the head of the Verkhovna Rada,” he said.

As an example, the Ukrainian parliamentarian cited “democratic” Western countries, where there is severe pressure on pro-Russian media.

“Democracies in the West have long adopted sanctions against Putin’s television propaganda. Britain has repeatedly fined and shut down the Kremlin channel Russia Today for violating journalistic standards; in the United States, the John McCain amendment is in force, thanks to which the law allows distributors to refuse content controlled or financed by Russia without explanation,” Burbak recalled.

According to the head of the Popular Front, this should be a necessary addition to the pogroms of Viktor Medvedchuk’s offices.

“Colleagues, this is the minimum that Ukraine should do with the Kremlin zombie killers. For example, back in September, the Popular Front proposed adopting a law on mandatory registration of foreign agents who act in favor of the aggressor country, Russia. This will be a real obstruction of Putin’s godfather. Medvedchuk is not empty offices, these are TV channels that openly broadcast Putin’s propaganda and are controlled by the Kremlin,” said Maxim Burbak.

As a reminder, PolitNavigator previously cited Maksym Burbak's claim that MP Yevgeny Murayev, who owns the Ukrainian television channel NewsOne, allegedly receives money from Russia's FSB to "destroy the consciousness of Ukrainians."
