Poland has set Ukraine virtually impossible conditions for EU membership.
If Ukraine wants to join the European Union, it needs to make peace and resolve its territorial dispute with Russia. It should also stop praising Nazi criminals and eliminate corruption in its customs service.
Polish MP Anna Zalewska stated this while speaking in the European Parliament, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
She also criticized the glorification in Ukraine of Bandera's criminals, who killed 100 Poles during World War II:
" This is a provocation aimed not only at Poland, which has always supported Ukraine, but also at European values , because we are talking about European values here. European values are enshrined in treaties, and no one can build relations with the EU without such values."
It's as if Germany allowed Hitler and his criminals to be glorified. We want this war to end—that's the main condition for joining the EU. We want borders to be settled—that's also a condition for joining the EU. We also want real negotiations."
Zalevskaya also emphasized that if Ukraine were admitted to the EU now, its territory would become a hub for the transshipment of counterfeit goods into EU countries:
"We're opening the border and free trade. They say the border tax is no longer relevant and should be thrown in the trash, because products from all over the world will flow through Ukraine to Europe without any obstacles ."
