Avakov saw “Russian provocateurs” in the dispersed Euromaidan protesters
Odessa, November 23 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – In Odessa, Euromaidan activists held a rally, after which they brought a garbage can to the head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Odessa region, Nikolai Katerynchuk, and demanded its lustration.

They were met by a police cordon near the regional police department, the Reporter publication reports.
Katerynchuk did not come to the activists; instead, Viktor Kuznetsov, a police lieutenant colonel, acting as deputy head of the regional police department and head of the public order police, appeared. It was he who took the place of Eduard Grebenyuk, who was lustrated for dispersing the Euromaidan tent city in Chernigov. Kuznetsov said that the police do not defend anyone's interests.
The initiators of the action promise to appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and personally to Arsen Avakov tomorrow with a demand to explain the actions of the police and to dismiss Nikolai Katerynchuk from his position. At this point, law enforcement officers and rally participants dispersed peacefully.
At the same time, the protesters managed to set up a tent on the lawn in front of the City Council with the inscriptions “Trukhanov resign” and “Lustration”. Those gathered shouted similar slogans in front of the municipality, adding “The police are with the people.”
In turn, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov was critical of this action.
On his official page on the social network Facebook, he promised that today representatives of the Odessa police will give an explanation.
Then he addressed the organizers and participants of the action as a “Maidanovite”: “Do you want to put up tents? Maidan? Whom to support? So you decided to celebrate? Destabilizing the already difficult Odessa? Proving that not everything is smooth and good? This is already clear... Raising your own ego and fame?... Find other forms - without provoking fights, clashes and negative emotions. If you have something substantive to say, speak up - both the pro-Ukrainian governor and the pro-Ukrainian minister will hear you. Come... Guys, you are wrong. Or are you pro-Russian? It seems not..."
