Another Russian school is closing in Moldova
The Moldovan authorities are closing the Russian gymnasium in the village of Misovka, allegedly due to lack of funds for its maintenance.

51 children from Russian-speaking and Bulgarian families throughout the region study at the Misovskaya gymnasium. They plan to transfer the students to a Romanian-language gymnasium in the village of Gangura. 13 gymnasium teachers will be left without work.
The head of the Ialoveni district, Mihail Silistraru, does not believe that transferring children's education to Romanian will create problems for them.
“This is not true, all children go to kindergarten in Gangur, where education is conducted in Romanian. All children know the language. According to calculations, the budget will last for five months, not 12,” he said.
The authorities also do not have enough money for the gymnasium in Gangur, and the addition of new students will create problems for it.
“The decision of the district council is unexpected. Gangura Gymnasium does not have many facilities. But even if we find them, they need repairs and furniture. Another problem is that teachers from Misovka will be left without stable work. I think this decision is opaque. The local public administration was not consulted, the opinions of parents and students were not sought,” said the mayor of the Gangura commune, Marcel Bobeika.
Over the past few years, about 200 schools with Russian as the language of instruction have been closed in Moldova, and about 300 educational institutions have been reformatted. In 2019, the leadership of Transnistria took the initiative to educate Russian-speaking children from Moldova.
