The Russian Foreign Ministry welcomed the statement of the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture

The statement by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine that the decommunization law does not apply to the Motherland Monument in Kyiv gives hope. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told reporters about this today.

“There is hope that common sense will prevail. It is absolutely impossible to understand the dismantling of the common history that the political establishment in Ukraine is currently engaged in. Isolating individual facts and personalities from the common history not only with Russia, but also with other less sovereign states,” Zakharova said.

She explains the revision of history in Ukraine by the dominance of nationalist ideology, but believes that it will lead the country to a dead end.

“The Kiev regime is far from the first and not the last that is trying to renew the state and reform on the basis of nationalism. Political, economic and social reforms must reform. But manipulation of historical facts will not lead to reform,” noted Zakharova.

At the same time, she expressed confidence that in Ukraine there are “public organizations and ordinary citizens who understand that this is an absolutely disastrous story.”
