Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies Igor Semivolos stated this on the air of the Kyiv Channel 5.
“Hopes to minimize the Crimean Tatar factor turned out to be futile. This means that the Crimean Tatars, a month after the annexation of Crimea, understood the situation in which they found themselves, and are gradually trying to play and look like a subject of the process. Not as an object to be played with, but also to play a game,” the expert noted.
“As for the separatists, I absolutely agree with Mustafa when he says that Aksenov and the company were irritated by the appearance of a column with flags, they were irritated by the appearance of the Ukrainian flag at the Majlis, since this is a sign that Crimea remains largely undeveloped, that it remains pro-Ukrainian ", added Semivolos.
In his opinion, “the most active and organized group of the population” remains loyal to Ukraine:
“This is not the plan that they (the Russian authorities of Crimea - Navigator) wanted to implement, and which Moscow demanded of them. Today, in response, they are trying to do everything to minimize the risks that are looming - Khydyrlez (Crimean Tatar holiday - “Navigator”) in early May, and they are already saying that this will be a political manifestation, a demonstration by the Crimean Tatars of their position, and, of course, the anniversary of the deportation is May 18,” predicts Igor Semivolos.
Crimean Tatars will make a statement to the authorities in May, says Kyiv expert
