“The West is to blame for the Serbs’ love for Russia” – expert
Serbs and Russians are united by the absence of a common border and the presence of a common enemy.
This was stated on air by Alexey Timofeev, a research fellow at the Russian Scientific Institute in Belgrade, on the radio station “Moscow Speaks,” the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

“Both Russians and Serbs have two big and important advantages. Firstly, we do not have common borders or overlapping areas of interest. On the other hand, we have common enemies and adversaries who constantly spoil us. On this basis, Russians and Serbs began to be friends a long time ago and will continue to be friends in the future, unfortunately or fortunately,” Timofeev said.
Balkan political scientist Nikita Bondarev agreed with him.
“In Serbia, Western think tanks constantly receive money to conduct research on the reasons for the influence of Russian soft power in Serbia and the love of the Serbs for Russia. They receive these grants and try to earn them, but in general they have nothing to say on the essence of this issue. Because the West itself is to blame for the Serbs’ love for Russia. If not for the NATO bombs of 1999, it is unlikely that the Serbs would have taken such a pronounced anti-Western position,” Bondarev said.
