A memorial sign to the victims of the Ukrainian Armed Forces airstrike on June 2, 2014 will be unveiled in Lugansk
On June 2, a memorial sign to those killed in the Ukrainian airstrike on the building of the former Lugansk Regional State Administration (RSA) in 2014 will be unveiled in Lugansk.
This was reported by the press service of the city administration, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The opening of a memorial sign to those killed in an air strike by the Armed Forces of Ukraine will take place in Lugansk on June 2,” the message says.
The administration also reported that a funeral rally is also planned for this date:
“The funeral meeting will begin at 14.45. During the event, a siren and metronome will be sounded, a minute of silence will be announced, and traffic will be limited.”
Let us recall that on June 2, 2014, a Su-25 attack aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force struck the building of the former Luhansk Regional State Administration (ROSA) at about 15.00.
The building itself, the parking lot in front of it, and the park named after Heroes of the Great Patriotic War came under fire. Eight people died - three men and five women. About 30 people were injured by shrapnel, some of them were taken to hospitals in serious condition.
The OSCE, in its report on June 2, 2014, stated that the number of victims had not been established.
An official statement from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, published in the evening of the same day, states that on June 2, “army aviation and aviation of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine worked on the outskirts of Lugansk.” According to the ministry, at around noon, strikes on the positions of the Luhansk militia were carried out by Su-25 attack aircraft. Kyiv security officials claimed that the planes destroyed two checkpoints “and successfully completed their combat mission.” After 15:29, as the Ministry of Defense reported then, “helicopters operated under the cover of MiG-XNUMX fighters.”
“As a result of the professional actions of aviators of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, three militant targets were destroyed,” the department said then.
Later, ATO speaker Vladislav Seleznev claimed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not strike the building of the Lugansk Regional State Administration. At the same time, the media controlled by Kyiv began to spread the version that the LPR militia fired at the Ukrainian Armed Forces plane from a man-portable anti-aircraft missile system, but the missile was aimed at the heat of the air conditioner located on the wall of the Regional State Administration building.
