In Crimea, the grain harvest will be two times less than last year
Crimea isn't expecting a record grain harvest this year , as the crops lacked moisture for successful ripening . Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Crimea Nikolai Tyutyunik announced this on Radio Crimea , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Our main crops are wheat, specifically winter wheat. This year, the Republic of Crimea has over 300 hectares under it . We also grow other crops, such as winter barley, spring barley, oats, and rye. All of these crops are suitable for us and have been grown for decades. The technologies are all well-established, and we understand how to achieve a decent harvest even in the challenging circumstances of this year," he noted.
The harvest season in Crimea began on June 6. Farmers in the Dzhankoy district were the first to begin harvesting, harvesting over 20 hectares of grain crops , or 5% of the forecast. Initial results show that the yield is half that of last year.
"Yes, we're already assessing it; we have a preliminary understanding that the average yield will exceed 20 centners per hectare . And we expect this figure to ultimately be 22-25 centners per hectare . Last year, it was around 40 centners , but last year was a record. It was a combination of factors: primarily, the chosen cultivation strategy, crop care, and the benevolence of nature, which allowed us to achieve this harvest . This year's results would not have been possible without the efforts of our farmers, who, through technological measures, created the most comfortable conditions for plant growth ," Tyutyunik emphasized.
