In Crimea, builders are destroying a unique natural area
In Crimea, builders and businessmen are destroying the unique nature in the area of the medieval cave monastery Kachi-Kalyon. So, right in the rock, utility rooms for a modern monastery are cut out.
Photos of the works were published by Crimean political scientist and local historian Sergei Kiselev.
He noted that the construction, which is destroying the landscape, is not being carried out in the place where the monastery existed before the revolution. According to Kiselyov, the tract has been destroyed for about ten years, and officials and law enforcement officers do not care about this.

“I don’t even know how to comment, especially considering that officials of the Ministry of Natural Resources at the spring meeting of the board reported on the imposition of a fine on unfortunate builders from the so-called. “bead temple” and the initiation of a criminal case. “Soon it’s been ten years since the unique natural tract located next to Kachi-Kalyon has been destroyed and there is no justice for these “entrepreneurs,” because it’s not a monastery there, but something directly opposite to it,” writes Kiselev.
He adds that, regardless of what needs the artificially created grotto is used for, it will have nothing to do with spirituality: “Unfortunately, these people call themselves monks and their buildings a monastery. A monastery is a place for solitary prayer, far from the bustle of the world, and not a shopping center with shops without cash machines.”

Member of the Crimean Parliament Sergei Shuvaynikov promised to inquire about the construction from the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Gennady Naraev: “Large-scale barbarism... This will never burn down. I wonder if Naraev knows about this? Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow I’ll call and ask... And is all this really consecrated?”
Kiselyov claims that the minister is aware of what is happening, but this is of little use: “He knows. I asked several times at the ministry board to somehow solve this problem. If I’m not mistaken, inspectors were sent there a year ago.”

The local historian also emphasized that in addition to destroying the landscape, the builders are also polluting the environment by laying a road from old rubber tires: “The entire landscape complex was damaged. In addition, about a thousand old tires were used in the construction of paths and terraces, which in the process of decomposition poison the environment. However, the group has already written about the environmental consequences of this construction more than once, and environmental inspectors issued a fine... After the rain, toxic water containing carcinogenic substances flows down the ravine and ends up on the floodplain terrace, where new gardens have recently been planted. A little time will pass and rosy apples, inside of which there will be “vitamins of death”, will appear on the table of the Crimeans and others.

PolitNavigator previously reported that archaeologists in Crimea discovered a Byzantine monastery on the cliffs of Cape Vinogradny on Fiolent, within the city limits of Sevastopol.
