Simferopol, September 15 (PolitNavigator, Kirill Boyarin) – There is no alternative to the ruling “United Russia” in Crimea, so the elections that took place yesterday on the peninsula showed a serious advantage in favor of this political party.

Kiev political scientist Vadim Karasev told PolitNavigator about this.
According to him, in Russia “United Russia” wins almost all elections, so people are distrustful of the electoral process. Hence the low turnout in yesterday's elections in Crimea.
“These were the first elections of Crimea as part of Russia. But in Russia there are no elections. This happens very conditionally, so the victory of “United Russia” is quite natural. This political force wins almost all elections in Russia. And the low turnout suggests that there is really no one to choose from. When elections are without choice, there will always be a low turnout,” believes Vadim Karasev.
