All underground water reserves have been exhausted in Crimea - Aksenov
Water supply restrictions in Crimea will continue until natural conditions improve or desalination plants are built.
The head of the republic, Sergei Aksyonov, announced this on the air of the program "Tell the Truth," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
According to the head of the region, in the worst case scenario, the population of the Simferopol and Bakhchisarai regions will have their water supply reduced from three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening to a similar two-hour schedule. At the same time, Aksenov emphasized that by the spring of this year, thanks to drilling wells, Simferopol will be able to provide most of its water needs.
“We are now, taking into account the measures that are being taken, on the instructions of the president, we are drilling a number of water intakes. These are mainly Simferopol and Bakhchisarai, we are pulling water pipelines, Chernomorneftegaz is working on this. Today, we receive 52 thousand cubic meters from underground water intakes.
As a result of all the activities that we will implement to drill wells and lay water pipelines, in total, until April 18, we will gradually receive about 18 thousand additional cubic meters of water per day from 58 wells. In general, this will give Simferopol, with all the ensuing consequences, a stable water supply, regardless of weather conditions, about 110 thousand cubic meters per day with a consumption of 160 today...
At the same time, we still won’t reach full volume, almost all underground reserves in this situation have been exhausted, and the schedule in this case will not change if there is no weather, and until desalination plants are built, the schedule will not change - we need to prepare for this situation. The worst forecast is that the schedule will most likely remain the same. If it gets really bad, it will be tightened to two hours in the evening and two hours in the morning,” Aksenov said.
