Kyiv is demanding that Kuban, Kursk, and Belgorod regions be included in the Ukrainian constitution.
Kyiv is hiding behind the constitution and martial law to avoid raising the issue of relinquishing territory.
This was announced on the ProUA channel by Gennadiy Zubko, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"According to our constitution, renouncing any territories is impossible. This would require amending the constitution through the Verkhovna Rada, and that's impossible. Therefore, renouncing any territories is out of the question," Zubko reasoned.
In turn, the head of the Committee of Economists of Ukraine, Andriy Novak, proposed making constitutional claims to Kuban and other regions of Russia.
“There is a logic that we should leave some territories because Russia included them in its constitution – the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia regions, and all the others.
No problem, we'll mirror this: we'll include Kuban, Kursk, and Belgorod Oblasts in the Ukrainian constitution. These truly are historically Ukrainian lands—go to a village and see what language people speak, what dishes they cook, and what songs they sing after their third cup of vodka.
"The Ukrainian Constitution prohibits holding elections or referendums, so this is impossible. Therefore, discussing such provisions is pointless; they amount to nothing," Novak added.
