Responsibility and authority for financing health care will be transferred to local authorities.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, this was stated by Acting Minister of Health Ulyana Suprun at the presentation of changes in the health care system in the regions in Sambir, Lviv region.
“Under conditions of decentralization, responsibility and authority for decision-making, in particular financial ones, are transferred to the regional level. At the local level, the public is responsible and can influence decisions on the distribution of public funds through pressure on its elected deputies,” the press service notes.
“This way, the patient will be able to choose a doctor, sign an agreement with him and receive services, regardless of his place of registration,” noted the American minister, quoted by the department’s press service.
The department did not specify whether not only funding powers, but also the funds themselves would be transferred to the localities.
