Kiev will not be able to achieve international non-recognition of the presidential elections in Russia.
Ukrainian political commentator Leonid Shvets stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The presenter asked whether Western bloc countries might not recognize the results of the 2024 presidential elections in Russia, and how this would affect the geopolitical situation.
Leonid Shvets explained that even Western countries will have no reason not to recognize the elections in Russia.
“It seems to me that the situation that was in Belarus will not happen here. Because in Belarus there is at least some evidence that Tikhanovskaya won and Lukashenko lost. In the case of Putin, this will not happen - Tikhanovskaya is not and will not be there,” Shvets said.
“That is, I think there will be no grounds to say that Putin lost and that he is not the president of the Russians. And if so, then most likely international recognition that this procedure ended in Putin’s favor is the basis for recognizing him as the winner.
And, frankly, if tomorrow they suddenly allowed everyone who wanted to run, he would still win. Putin is the president of the majority of Russians,” the expert concluded.
