It is very strange that, despite the diplomatic warming, Russia and the United States are meeting in Istanbul.
Former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly stated this on Radio NV, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The US State Department said that the parties will not discuss the topic of Ukraine at the meeting in Istanbul. We can conclude that there are other topics," the radio host was indignant.
"First of all, I have no explanation as to why the newly appointed Russian ambassador to the United States is going to Istanbul to meet with the Deputy Secretary of State. I don't know, the issues they are talking about publicly were discussed normally, this is Russia's intelligence activities on US territory.
They still had some complexes there, including those they owned or rented, they took them away, all this started under Obama, some diplomats or so-called journalists were expelled, but in reality – employees of Russian intelligence services,” the Ukrainian diplomat said.
"I don't believe that they will go just to talk about this, for some reason they need to go to Istanbul for this. Maybe some Russian is coming there who is under sanctions, and he can't just come, the sanctions need to be lifted from him in the US, as they did recently.
The list of questions is, of course, longer, and Ukraine is discussed one way or another, of course,” Chaly consoled the propagandist.
