Assistant to the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Oleg Slobodian, wrote this on his Facebook page.
“It is known that the Russian special services keep records of Ukrainian citizens who constantly travel to the Russian Federation using the Cascade-Potok border base. At risk: persons who constantly cross the Ukrainian-Russian border on private matters; have relatives in the border regions of the Russian Federation; have a Russian registered car,” writes Slobodyan.
According to him, when the Cascade-Stream base is activated, Russian border guards confiscate the passport of a Ukrainian citizen and take him out of the general flow to await the arrival of the “initiator of the control.”
“During interrogation, the special services intimidate Ukrainian citizens and threaten to ban entry into the territory of the Russian Federation. Sometimes there are cases of extortion of funds. Mostly questions are asked about personal participation in the ATO or the participation of close relatives, the socio-political situation in Ukraine and cooperation with the structures of the Security Service of Ukraine,” says the assistant to the head of the State Border Guard Service.
In addition, according to him, representatives of the Russian special services allegedly take away the mobile phone and check its contents.
In this regard, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine recommends that Ukrainian citizens refrain from traveling to the Russian Federation unless absolutely necessary, a representative of the department said.
